President Bola Tinubu has directed the Federal Ministry of Training to formulate modalities for mobilising graduates of the Nationwide Open College of Nigeria (NOUN) to take part within the Nationwide Youth Service Scheme (NYSC).
Mr Tinubu disclosed this on the thirteenth Convocation Ceremony of the college in Abuja on the weekend.
In 2018, former President Muhammadu Buhari offered his assent to the amended NOUN Act which permits the college to function like different common Nigerian common universities and paves manner for its legislation graduates to attend the Nigerian Regulation College (NLS) and to enroll for the NYSC.
The NLS started admitting first NOUN legislation graduates in 2022 however they’ve been unable to enrol for the NYSC.
Represented by the Deputy Govt Secretary, Nationwide Universities Fee (NUC), Biodun Saliu, Mr Tinubu mentioned: “With the altering demographics of our nice nation the federal government has recognised the significance of permitting NOUN graduates to take part within the NYSC scheme.”
