A search has begun within the Torres Strait for a lacking 16-year-old.
Queensland Police confirmed to NITV {that a} land, air and sea search and rescue operation is underway for the lacking teenager close to Saibai Island.
It is believed the 16-year-old tried to swim to Saibai with a 13-year-old boy after their dinghy broke down in a single day.
Police have mentioned the boy swan to shore and raised the alarm. Emergency Providers responded quickly after, round 4 am on Thursday.
It is believed the rain and moist climate prevented {the teenager} from reaching the shore. They continue to be lacking.
ABC reported that Queensland Police Torres Strait Performing Inspector Anthony Moynihan wasn’t sure the boat had been situated, believing it broke down 500 metres north of Saibai.
Police have urged anybody with data to contact them instantly.
